About Carry the Light
UCCS’s Carry the Light Giving Day is a collective effort by the campus to come together as a community to drive meaningful change. Launched in April 2025, the 24-hour fundraiser uplifts funds across campus that support student scholarships, essential programs, and resources.
The theme “Carry the Light” acknowledges the influence that we all carry, and how we channel our experiences at UCCS into the world around us, creating opportunities for students and the campus community to thrive. That light extends through the Colorado Springs community, the Pikes Peak region, and beyond.
“This event shines as a beacon of collective impact – empowering UCCS students to reach their full potential and become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow, both in the Pikes Peak region and beyond,” said Sara Daum, Director of Philanthropic Engagement Strategy.

A Snapshot of Past Giving Days
Thanks to the generosity of the Mountain Lion community, more than 250 donors gave over $100,000 to the 2025 Carry the Light campaign, creating a solid foundation for future giving traditions. The success of Carry the Light is a testament to the power of collective action and the enduring spirit of UCCS.
In 2025, Carry the Light featured activities that included a volunteer opportunity at Care and Share, hosted by the UCCS Alumni and Friends Volunteer Program, and a community celebration event held off campus.
